The Vintage Bakelite Collection
Invented in 1907, Bakelite transformed the world of fashion in the 1920s with the introduction of vibrant colors and bold, geometric forms. Judith’s collection captures the two distinct personalities of this era: the playful, "jazzy" American style—featuring polka dots, laminated stripes, and whimsical animal clips—and the sophisticated European aesthetic. The latter reflects the austere Bauhaus movement and the Art Deco motifs showcased at the 1925 Paris Exhibition, inspired by Egyptian and Aztec cultures.
Judith began her journey with Bakelite in the 1980s, evolving from a fascination with buttons and earrings into a full-scale archive of bangles, bracelets, and necklaces. This collection represents decades of "the hunt" for rare colors and unique silhouettes. As she opens her private jewelry chest, Judith is offering a selection of these storied Bakelite treasures, alongside curated pieces of European resin and recycled plastic jewelry, to those who appreciate the bold spirit of 20th-century design.
